What is Image Flipper?

Flipping an image creates a mirror or upside-down version without degree rotation. A horizontal flip (left-right mirror) reverses the direction a subject faces, creates symmetrical designs, or positions logos on the opposing side. A vertical flip creates an upside-down reflection — useful for water reflection effects, artistic compositions, and UI elements that need to work in both orientations.

This is a single-purpose tool: upload, choose flip direction, download. Processing uses the Canvas API — no server upload. Output dimensions are identical to the input since flipping does not introduce corner pixels. PNG flips are fully lossless.

Image Flipper FAQs

Quick answers about the workflow, privacy, and where this tool fits in a broader job.

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Rotation turns the image by a degree angle (90°, 180°, etc.). A flip creates a mirror image along a horizontal or vertical axis — it reverses pixel positions, not orientation angle.

Does flipping affect EXIF data?

The flip operation resets the EXIF orientation tag to prevent double correction. Other EXIF metadata (camera model, date, GPS) is preserved.

Can I flip an animated GIF?

This tool processes static images. Animated GIF flipping requires processing each frame individually. Single-frame (static) GIFs flip normally.
